Objective
Central data infrastructure
Heterogeneous data from spreadsheets, genotypes and existing phenotype records are linked through a reliable animal ID, validated and made reproducibly usable.
Ixworth Chicken · Animal Welfare · Breeding · Genomics

Objective
Heterogeneous data from spreadsheets, genotypes and existing phenotype records are linked through a reliable animal ID, validated and made reproducibly usable.
Data quality
Value ranges, plausibility checks, duplicates and pedigree consistency are systematically assessed. A data dictionary defines traits, measurement methods and permitted units.
Welfare
Indicators such as nesting behaviour, feather pecking, temperament, footpad health and keel bone integrity can be linked with genetic and husbandry-related information.
Resilience
The platform supports analyses of production traits, robustness and disease resilience in Ixworth chickens, including genomic relationships.
Why Ixworth?
The Ixworth chicken combines robust welfare traits, genetic diversity and a balanced profile of laying and growth performance. This makes the breed a valuable model for data-driven breeding strategies that consider performance, resilience and animal welfare together.
